What Makes Me Unique

STEAM Experience and Maker Education Graduate Certification

I am trained and experienced in design thinking, STEAM, and Project Based Learning. From my Science Teaching Fellowship to my time as Lead Instructor of the K-1 Idea and Design Lab and in my current role as Academic Technology Coordinator, I have striven to create about student-centered, authentic learning experiences for my students. I have provided professional development for faculty and staff in a variety of ed tech tools. and co-presented at the NJAIS Innovation Symposium and ISTE. I regularly pursue professional development opportunities in this area and I  I am also trained in Agency by Design, a division of Harvard's Project Zero.

My passion for this field led me to join Rutgers University's first class of their new Maker Ed Graduate Certification program. Working with incredibly talented educators from all around New Jersey, I learned about new fabrication technologies, Maker Lab safety, and what it truly means to be a maker. I completed an in-depth study of e-textiles, designing a sewn circuitry unit as my final project, bringing my new found knowledge back to my students.

Masters of Educational Technology

From the beginning of my teaching career at the University of Michigan, I have been passionate about 21st century teaching and learning. I recently completed my Masters of EdTech at Arizona State University. I have experience with many current technologies, including Virtual Reality, HyperDocs, and Robotics, and meaningfully integrate them into my daily practice. I am also studying to become a Google Certified Educator and I implement Google apps regularly in the classroom. In addition to my expertise in technology integration, I have also gained a great deal of experience in technology support, AV setup, and troubleshooting.

Leadership and School Community Involvement

In addition to my current role I am known for being highly involved in my school's community and take on leadership roles outside of the classroom. I enjoy sharing my passions for STEAM, sports, and new trends in education with students and teachers. I assisted with 7th/8th grade Science Olympiad team and became the head coach of 7th and 8th grade girls' basketball B team. I also served as Lead Associate Teacher and mentored fellow associates. I have led workshops for this group focused on goal setting, creating a digital portfolio, resume building, and educational technology. I now serve as the Head Coach of the Speyer Girls' Basketball team, have piloted multiple female empowerment affinity groups, and run many after school clubs to enrich the lives of community members.
